Who: All comers. Youth and adult swimmers of all ages.

What: 3-person team, double-elimination, swimming tournament. 

Where: Circle C Pool, 5919 La Crosse Avenue 78739, Austin, TX.

When: Sunday, September 13, 2015. Check-in and warm-up starts at 8:15 am. First game to be played at 9:00 a.m.

Why:
• To contest the World Championship of Texas in 3-on-3 Swimming
• To promote health and fitness
• To provide an opportunity to compete
• To raise money for USA Swimming Foundation's "Make A Splash" Initiative
• Just for the FUN of it

Charity: All donations and sponsorships raised through the 3-on-3 Swimming Tournament's Swimability efforts will go directly to benefit swimming lessons locally for at-risk kids.

In addition to the life-saving benefit of basic swimming competence, teaching children to swim also gives at-risk children the skills needed to enjoy the health rewards of swimming, including improving a child’s general health and fighting against obesity and diabetes.

Rules: 2015 ASA rules apply. Please note: special rules for the 1-on-1 75 medley play and the 3-on-3 plays have been pre-approved for the World Championship of Texas 3-on-3 Swimming Tournament. No fins, snorkels, heart monitors, wristwatches, pull buoys, floats or any other artificial aids permitted.  No tech suits.

Costume: Only one suit and one cap may be worn. No tech suits.  (See ASA Rules.) If you have any doubt as to what suit you will be permitted to wear at the City Champs, please check with the Meet Director. Please make sure you wear an acceptable suit as follows: 
Swim suits shall not cover a man's body higher than the top of the pelvic bone or the belly button and shall not cover any part of the body below the top of the knee. Swim suits shall not cover a woman's body outside the shoulder-joints or above the shoulder-line and shall not cover the any part of the body below mid-thigh. The material of suits may consist only of cotton, lycra, nylon, polyester, and spandex. Any swimmer wishing to compete in a suit constructed of other materials must apply to ASA for permission in writing. The Game: A game consists of 7 plays (head-to-head swimming races: four 1-on-1 50y plays, one 1-on-1 75 play, and two 3-on-3 3x50y relay plays).  Each game’s plays will be contested in the following order:
3-on-3 3x50y Freestyle
1-on-1 50y Butterfly
1-on-1 50y Backstroke
1-on-1 75y IM
1-on-1 50y Freestyle
1-on-1 50y Breaststroke
3-on-3 3x50y Medley

1-on-1 75 IM Play: Swimmers shall complete one length of the 25 yard pool exclusively swimming backstroke, one length exclusively swimming breaststroke, and one length exclusively swimming butterfly in any order.

3-on-3 Freestyle Relay Play: Each swimmer in turn shall swim two complete lengths of the 25 yard pool without interruption.  After the first swimmer on the relay, each subsequent swimmer shall, at the start of his leg of the play, maintain contact with the starting block, side of the pool, or the wall until the preceding swimmer completes his leg of the race.
 
3-on-3 Medley Relay Play: Each 3-person team shall complete 2 lengths exclusively of butterfly, 2 lengths exclusively of backstroke, and 2 lengths exclusively of breaststroke of the 25 yard pool; with each swimmer in turn swimming two complete lengths of the 25 yard pool without interruption.  After the first swimmer on the relay, each subsequent swimmer shall, at the start of his leg of the play, maintain contact with the starting block, side of the pool, or the wall until the preceding swimmer completes his leg of the race.

Scoring: All plays: 1 point for 1st place, 0 points for 2nd place.

Entry limit: Each 3-person team may enter both relay plays and 1 swimmer in each one-on-one play.  Each swimmer may enter a maximum or two one-on-one plays.

Lineup Card: Each team will be provided with lineup cards. A representative must submit a completed lineup card prior to game time for each game.

The Double Elimination Tournament:  Teams will be placed in first round games by a random draw. The team scoring the most points wins the game. The winner of each first round game advances in the Winner ’s Bracket. The team outscored by the winning team in the first round moves into the secondary Bracket. 

After the first round games, the winner of each game in the Winner’s Bracket continues to advance in the Winner’s Bracket while the outscored team moves into the secondary Bracket.  The winner of each game in the secondary Bracket continues to advance in the bracket, while the outscored team (on it's 2nd loss) is eliminated from the tournament.  

Championship Round: The last remaining teams in each of the brackets will play each other in the Championship Round until one team is eliminated. The Championship Round will consist of either one or two games, depending upon which team wins the first game.

Awards: Championship awards to winning team.
 
Team registration:  Please note (ASA) team membership does not affect USMS, USA Swimming, Collegiate, or any other association team representation.

Entry Fees* and Deadlines: Entry fee is determined by the date of receipt (not postmark) of paper entry form or time of online submission. Please make sure you mail your entry in time to be received by the appropriate date. Incomplete entries may be returned and are subject to late fees.

Discounted fees with ASA membership:  Join ASA and enjoy discounted event fees for The 3-on-3 and other event days in 2015. You can register for $25 with your paper entry.
