ASA U. Leadership

Partnership with the CSCAA

The College Swimming Coaches Association of America has invited ASA U. coaches to join their organization.  This is a great opportunity for our coaches to take advantage of CSCAA's professional development resources and events.  ASA U. and the CSCAA are working together to expand college swimming at all levels, to promote the sport of swimming, and to develop future leaders in the swimming community.  Please join us in our efforts.

From their website:
"Founded in 1922, the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) – the oldest organization of college coaches in America -is a professional organization of college swimming and diving coaches dedicated to serving and providing leadership for the advancement of the sport of swimming at the collegiate level." –CSCAA Mission Statement

Fostering the Development of Leaders in the Swimming Community
ASA U. club officers have a unique opportunity to develop a valuable skill-set through their experiences running an ASA U. club and coordinating team efforts.

The skills that make for a successful ASA U. club officer are the same skills sought by varsity coaches when they look for assistants; they're skills that are highly sought in the broader swimming community; and they're skills that translate into other areas of life.

ASA U. club officers:

•plan their seasons to ensure that their swimmers have enough competitive opportunities to get official times in their events for entry into ASA U. championship meets.

•coordinate meets with ASA and with other clubs to facilitate a better meet calendar

•host meets, act as meet directors, and, when they aren't participating in the meet, sometimes act as meet referees, all of which require them to learn and apply the rules

•coordinate with ASA and with other clubs in the region to ensure that a quality Regional Championship Meet is held in each region as a qualifier for Nationals

•engage in fund-raising and lobbying of their schools for funds for registration, meet entries, equipment, travel, lodging, coaching salaries, and other expenses

•recruit members

•plan travel, lodging, and meals

•secure sponsorships for their clubs and for their meets

•represent their clubs professionally and responsibly to their schools

•represent their clubs professionally and responsibly to the national organization

•seek and secure coaches and training facilities
